This is a rough estimate, as it is difficult to estimate exactly how many freezers the need is required during the agreement period. Ordering freezers varies a lot from year to year, as the age of the existing freezers at the Health Trusts and the Institute of Public Health spans from brand new to over 10 years old. The project group has decided to include a double cooling system, i.e. two cooling circuits, in separate sub-contracts. This is in addition to standard freezers with one cooling circuit for -80 degrees ultra-freezer and -150 degree freezer box. The reason for this choice is the need for such freezers in laboratories with limited space to a back-up freezer.
