The framework agreement mainly comprises analyses of biota samples including plasma, blood and eggs of seabirds, plasma, blood and spew of marine mammals and plankton, but there can also be a need for analyses of other matrixes, e.g. liver and muscle from fishermen, seabirds and mammals. Analysing polychlorated bifenyls, chlorinated pesticides, brominated and chlorinated flame retardants, perfluoalcyl substances, phthalates and their metabolites, chlorinated paraffins, UV substances and organophosphates and "non-target screening" of both fat soluble and ionic substances and possibly heavy metals will be carried out. The laboratory ought to be proactive and future orientated on the development and optimisation of methods for mapping new environmental toxins in order to respond to the Polar Institute ́s need for analyses in the coming
