The current buildings are not modern and are characterised by wear, age and requirements for upgrading. The project comprises approx. 37,000 m2 total renovation and alterations to the police building itself and approx. 7,000 m2 of new buildings, as well as outdoor works. The main building, the police station itself, is a long and narrow building, with ten floors above the ground, and houses i.a. offices for 1,100 - 1,200 employees, a parole hall, a gym hall and a large central hall (largest height 28 metres) with an audience reception. The police centre itself has protection class 2 in the National Protection Plan and parts of the green areas, as well as the police station itself, is on the Cultural Heritage Management Office ́s yellow list.
