sp;IDA previously carried out a review of the options for flood alleviation at the National Technology Park NTP Limerick. The purpose of the review was to examine viable options to minimise the risk of ingress of flood waters to NTP from the Shannon and Mulcair and manage flood water arising from surface water run off within the park during river flood pluvial flooding. A new flood defence is necessary because the existing flood defence berm provides an insufficient level of protection and currently allows for water seepage beneath the berm through extensive granular soils. There is an existing boundary fence associated with a client’s facility to the east of the site And this fence will be relocated further to the south to facilitate the construction of the flood defence.
