The electrochemical mass spectrometry system should combine electrochemistry with mass spectrometry to enable highly sensitive time-resolved detection of volatile chemical species directly from a liquid electrolyte during electrochemical reactions. The electrochemical mass spectrometry system must be compatible with volatile electrolytes - both aqueous and non-aqueous - and its application scope includes hydrogen evolution reactions, oxygen evolution reactions, nitrogen reduction reactions, NOx - NO, NO2, N2O - electroreduction reactions and electrochemical CO2 reduction reactions.
